How to Choose the Right Camera for Your Production?

How to pick the right camera for your production - nyc - bravo studios

How does one choose the right camera for their video or photo production when there are SO many options out there?

There are a few things that will determine what camera one would need for their production. Consider these two questions —

What am I shooting?

Knowing what kind of shoot you are producing while keeping in mind the style of the creative will determine your camera choices. Are you shooting a documentary? OR are you shooting a scene that requires cinematic vibes? Are you shooting a night time scene which will require a great signal-to-noise ratio for low light situations? Day time? Or will you need something that will do both? Are the conditions going to be rough or super simple? All of these things need to be considered when deciding which camera is best.

Where will the final product exist?

This is an important question to ask because it will determine what quality of footage or images you will need. For instance, if a feature film is being shot, 4K is the best choice because it will provide the highest resolution deliverables. But if the final product will only exist online, HD will work just fine.
